My Big Plans for 2018

writing in a plannerI hope everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to start thinking about the upcoming year and what we hope to accomplish.

I’ve had a few weeks to think about which online businesses I’d like to try. I wish I could duplicate myself so I can try them all but since I can’t, I have narrowed it down to 5 business ideas I’m going to focus on for 2018.

Revive My Niche Website

Towards the end of 2015, I was following along with Niche Site Project 3 on Niche Pursuits. I did a lot of research and came up with a great idea for a website. I started the site, added a custom design & logo and posted the first 5 articles. Then I got bored and moved on to other projects. Despite having only 5 articles posted, the site gets around 100 visitors and 1-2 Amazon sales per day. I’m pretty sure that if I posted regularly, the site could easily become an authority in it’s niche.

In 2018, I’m planning on reviving the site by posting 2-3 times a week. I would like to eventually add Adsense and write a few more review articles with Amazon affiliate links to boost the earnings of the site. Hopefully towards the end of 2018, the site will be receiving thousands of visitors a day and I can work on the next project on my list.

Write & Sell an eBook

I’ve been wanting to sell an eBook for at least 8 years now. I first wanted to try it when I saw that Pat Flynn of Smart Passive Income was making over $8,000 a month selling an eBook on his Leed Exam website. Now he only makes a few thousand dollars a month, but that’s still pretty great. I would love to make an extra $500-$1000 a month selling an eBook on the website I described above. This project probably won’t start till the end of 2018 since I need to work on getting traffic to my authority site first but I already have some ideas on topics for the eBook.

Continue Growing My Amazon Affiliate Sites

graph showing growthWhile I don’t want to be completely dependent on the Amazon Affiliate program for all of my income, I would still like to continue updating and growing my Amazon Affiliate websites. I currently have 13 sites with around 500 articles (between 500-2000 words each) published that makes between $1000-$2000 a month. I have another 14 sites that have nothing published yet. I find that most of my websites don’t start earning any decent money until they have at least 50 articles published and the articles have aged at least 6 months.

In 2018, I’d like to get 2-4 articles per month published on the first 13 sties and 50 articles on each of the other 14 sites. That’s a total of 1300 articles I would like to get written and published next year. Obviously, I would not write the articles myself. I would die of boredom if I did that plus it would take up too much time. I use iWriter to order the articles for these sites, then I edit them, format them and publish them myself. I’ll post a tutorial of how I do this sometime next month so be on the lookout for that. I’m not in a huge rush to get all these articles done although the sooner the better. I plan to order 30-50 articles per week and work on getting them published when I have some free time.

Sell T-Shirts

Another part-time idea I’d like to try is selling t-shirts either on Amazon or on Teespring. I have a college degree in Interaction Design (a degree that combines web design, graphic design, logo design, video editing and more) and I love being artistic. I think creating t-shirt designs sounds like a lot of fun. I read that you can make thousands of dollars a month selling shirts on the Merch by Amazon program or using Teespring and Facebook ads. Over the next month or two, I’m going to try to read everything I can on designing and selling t-shirts and I would like to start selling them when I get back from my vacation at the end of February. It would be amazing to make a few thousand dollars a month designing t-shirts in my spare time.

Brainstorming In Motion

Of course, I plan on publishing 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) to Brainstorming In Motion. I’d like to do case studies on both selling t-shirts and writing & selling an eBook. I’m also going to do some tutorials and some inspirational posts. You definitely don’t want to miss any upcoming posts so, if you haven’t done so already, please subscribe by email using the form below or clicking on the RSS button at the top of the page.

Those are my plans for 2018. Starting in January, I’m going to post 3 times a week to my authority site. I’ll also be ordering and publishing more articles for my Amazon affiliate sites. I’ll be gone on vacation for most of February (New Orleans & a Caribbean cruise) and will be reading a lot about designing t-shirts while I’m relaxing on the cruise ship so I can hit the ground running when I get home. I have high hopes for 2018. Next week I’ll post my New Year’s resolutions and goals which will be tied to the plans I’ve outlined in this post.

I’d like to hear from you…
